Lake Oahe Ice Fishing Tourney is Still Growing

Through Monday, November 10th, the Mobridge, South Dakota ice fishing tournament has grown to 141 teams.  At the rate of entries coming in, it appears that this year will be a record year for contestants to take to the ice on January 10th, 2009.  In 2008 the Mobridge Chamber reported 222 teams competed on the ice for more than $25,000 in cash and prizes.  With the success of the 2008 tournament the Mobridge Chamber’s tourism committee made the decision to double the cash and prizes to $50,000 for 2009’s annual event!  As entries keep coming in, the chamber expects that there may be close to 300 2-person teams for this year’s tournament.
