May 26th, Lake Oahe Fishing Report, Mobridge, South Dakota

by chamber2387 ~ May 26, 2009

Members of the Mobridge Chamber of Commerce were out on the water the past weekend.  Water temps ranged from 49.5-52 degrees on the main lake, and  abput 54 degrees in the tributaries.  I personally was out Saturday morning until noon with cool temps and a little wind.  We were able to catch 3 keepers on the main lake.  The walleyes that we caught were in good condition, but were very cold.  It seems that the fish are not in their “feeding” mode yet, as they are not expelling much energy due to the cold water temps.  The clarity of the water is improving, but will take some time before we will see a huge improvement.  There is without any doubt that there are fish there, as we were graphing fish consistantly.  Hopefully we will see some warmer temperatures, and raise the water temps.
