Pro Tour FMX to Dazzle Spectators at Sitting Bull Stampede
by Mobridge Tourism ~ June 14, 2012
The 67th Annual Sitting Bull Stamped in Mobridge, SD will undoubtedly deliver trademark excitement to rodeo fans across the state, but showcases extra kick as part of the mix in 2012.
This year onlookers will also have the opportunity to witness the best riders among the non-hoof variety, as the class acts in the world of motocross, Pro Tour FMX, splashes down for its Stampede debut with scheduled performances across the rodeo itinerary.
“This is extreme sports,” Mobridge Rodeo Association board member Bruce Brekke said. “It’s certainly different than any attraction we have ever had.”
Brekke said the high-flying spectacle of Pro Tour FMX compares to the X-games style action the group is known for. Pro Tour FMX members D.J. Umphres and Brent Denton boast Arizona and California state motocross championships, and lead a group of riders that each represent over 15 years of experience in the sport.
The group is famed for stunts like seat grabs, holy grabs, rock solids, tsunami tricks, and the always popular back flip. These precarious maneuvers will unfold in front of an always boisterous crowd as rodeo fans get their first glimpse of a motocross team in the cowboy capital of the world.
The action promises thrills, danger and always entertaining showmanship to an event already rich in similar thrills.
The Pro Tour FMX riders will perform all three nights of the Sitting Bull Stampede, July 2-4, with shows at the Mobridge Rodeo Grounds each performance starting at 7:30.
