Tough Enough To Wear Pink
Are You Tough Enough?
Tough Enough 2012
For the 5th Anniversary of the Sitting Bull Stampede Tough Enough To Wear Pink a newly designed hot pink T shirt will be sold with the same promotion as in 2007 and 2009. Kamakazi’s for Cancer will be a new fund raiser this year. Eight members of the Mobridge Rodeo Association will have jars for the public to vote monetarily with the top four raising the most money competing in cow hide surfing at the July 3rd performance. You won’t want to miss how the four raising the least money get humiliated during the cow hide surfing by the winners. The koozis, coolers, hats, and seat cushion TETWP items will be on sale again at the rodeo.
Tough Enough 2010/2011
Pink My Steer continued to be a hit in 2010 and 2011. Tough Enough To Wear Pink (TETWP) can koozies and six pack coolers were sold in 2010 and 2011. Added sales of TETWP baseball caps and “Pink My Rear” seat cushions in 2011.
Tough Enough 2009
For 2009 the Mobridge Rodeo Association is excited to to announce that the “tough enough” t-shirts will be available again. For this year the t-shirts will be grey in color with pink lettering. After careful consideration, the association chose to bring back the t-shirts, and include a couple of other events for the night of July 3rd. For people that chose to be “tough enough” on the night of the 3rd the Rodeo Association is going to donate one dollar for every t-shirt worn back to the Mobridge Regional Healthcare Foundation. Before the performance there will be a balloon release for survivors and also to remember the ones that we have lost to cancer. People interested in purchasing a balloon in advance will be able to find them at various retailers in Mobridge, and we will ask kids from the crowd to release the balloons from the arena for those who are not available to make it. We are also planning a new event for this year’s “tough enough” night, the event will be called “Pink my Steer.” There will be several teams of four people, sponsored by area businesses, and their goal will be to hold a rope that it is already on a 500-600 pound steer, bulldog it, drop it to the ground, throw a pair of pink boxers on the hind end of the steer, and complete the time by pulling the tail through the appropriate place. This event should provide a little flavor to the Sitting Bull Stampede Rodeo, and give people in attendance a great show on top of the PRCA rodeo.
Tough Enough 2008
In 2008 the Mobridge Rodeo Association and Mobridge Regional Healthcare Foundation continued their partnership in the “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” cancer awareness campaign with the help of Joe Beadle at Beadle Sales. Thanks to Joe and his idea the 2008 Mustang Convertible raffle raised approximately $17,000. The winner of the 2 year lease of the 2008 Warriors in Pink Mustang was Kristi Moser of Mobridge! The drawing took place on the 4th of July at the Sitting Bull Stampede Rodeo in Mobridge.
In the summer of 2007, the Mobridge Rodeo Association and the Mobridge Regional Healthcare Foundation co-sponsored a “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” Cancer Awareness Campaign in conjunction with the Sitting Bull Stampede Rodeo festivities. Miss Rodeo America 2007, Ashley Andrews, from Bowman, ND spoke at a banquet in her honor on June 25th about her personal fight against cancer. During this campaign approximately 2,500 pink t-shirts were sold for $10 each. Area businesses participated in challenging other businesses, raising money on their own, offering specials and wearing their t-shirts on “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” Tuesday’s. All of the festivities culminated on Tuesday July 3rd, “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” night at the Sitting Bull Stampede Rodeo. This first time ever fundraiser for the Mobridge Rodeo Association and Mobridge Regional Healthcare Foundation raised approximately $33,000.
